Greetings.
If anyone knows me well, they know that the one thing that aggravates me is to be misunderstood. I can see my sister Paulette saying YES YES YES! Well, I will have you to know that GOD has been dealing with me on this area.
There are nuggets in the scripture that we often times miss because its a familiar story and everybody knows it. For example, the story of Job. Everyone knows this story like the back of their hands. BUT, the TRUE value of Gods word is getting the REVELATION, NUGGETS and TIMELY word applicable to YOUR life, at any given time.
Well, there are people in the word of GOD that I LOVE, there are stories that I LOVE. And EACH and every time I read it, I get MORE and I get a new revelation on it. Let me bring this into perspective….its like watching your favorite movie. After a while you’ll be able to watch it and repeat every single word…you know ever scene and its almost nothing that gets pass you that you haven’t already seen or noticed. Well, apparently its just me. Because I can look at my favorite movie and almost 99% of the time I see or notice some little thing that I missed before. And what’s even more funny is that it stands out like a sore thumb! This is why being under the leadership or being in a church where the Pastor has their ear to the mouthpiece of GOD is important. Its is very important that your leader is SPIRIT LEAD. Because the Holy Spirit walks up and down the aisle and ministers to you where YOU ARE. It might be one thing the leader/Pastor may say that will echo over and over and over inside of you, where are the next person may not have caught it. Whatever you need the Holy Spirit delivers it, as a NUGGET to your current situation.
Well, that’s how the story of Hannah is to me. I have read that story quite a bit lately. I was talking to someone Saturday, and as I was talking to them GOD was giving me new revelation on the story of Hannah. Often times we get upset with people because they LACK understanding of who we are and what we are going through. This sister I was talking to said no one understands what I am going through. Not only that even as I think, I was talking to a long lost friend whom I recently reconnected with and we were talking about understanding as well earlier last week. Its just amazing people are QUICK to say I understand you, when in essence they may can empathize with you, but they can not UNDERSTAND you, like GOD can. Let’s be frank and honest here. I submit to you that we may somewhat know how that person feels or what they are going through but we will never know down to a 100% guaranteed understanding.
How do I know this? Lets look at Hannah and her husband Elkanah…if you are familiar w/the scripture you know that he had two wives. Hannah (whom I LOVE and admire) and Peninnah. We know that Peninnah was able to have children and had children but Hannah did not. Peninnah tormented Hannah so much that it provoked Hannah to GOD even the more.
In I Samuel 1: 6 & 7 the scripture goes to show that Hannah was TRULY troubled about not being able to have children.
6 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the LORD had closed her womb.*** 7 So
it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.
I mean Hannah walked with this pain for a while. She even got to the point where she wasn’t eating, and it apparently was also all over her countenance. Now there are TONS of nuggets in this story that I have found, but here is what I am after, look at I Samuel 1: 8.
8 Then Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”
Now we all know (if we have read this story) that Elkanah REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY loved Hannah I mean HE LOVED HER. YET….
YET….look at this HE STILL DID NOT ***UNDERSTAND*** how she was troubled. Verse 8 suggested it. He said, “Am I not better to you than TEN sons?
I mean really, Elkanah? He KNEW she was upset, HE KNEW she wanted kids, but he thought that she would be satisfied because she had him….BUT he did NOT FULLY understand how MUCH it was TRULY hurting her.
This is what I am after. Nowadays, we will allow ourselves to be so frustrated because we walk around saying, “they don’t understand me” when in essence, we should just take it to GOD in the first place. I mean its good to have that solid friend, Pastor, loved one, that we can share with….but who knows you like GOD does? He understands YOU…he made you. Let’s not hate on, get frustrated, and drive ourselves to an early grave because people don’t understand you. I mean it does NOT mean they don’t love you. Read the scripture. Its far from that. They can love you, pray for you, and be there as a listening ear, etc etc….but GOD knows you, and he understands. When you get to the point where you are SO frustrated that you are beginning to take out your frustrations on the people that love you….by the way of your tone of voice…and things of that nature, its time to back up and take another look. Evaluate what’s really going on. It would have been EASY for Hannah to lash out on Elkanah. But instead she took it to GOD.
EVEN IF, someone doesn’t understand you….do not direct your anger and frustrations out on them. Just accept them for who they are….know that they love you but they may not have an *UP* on how you REALLY FEEL. You cant change a person and mold them into the “KING or QUEEN” of understanding “ME”….just TRAIN yourself and LEARN to accept people for WHO they are. Then don’t change who you are, but adjust yourself to HANDLE them. Don’t just throw in the towel and create a bigger issue.
Calm down, take it easy and GO TO GOD. I have been guilty of saying: “When all else fails, trust GOD” but why wait till then? You making GOD your LAST RESORT may not always be SAFE. Perhaps you may get to your 3rd SO-CALLED back up plan and it could take you ALL THE WAY OUT DEAD. No, grow your faith, TRUST GOD, and go to him FIRST. Don’t get caught up in SELF-INFLICTED NON-SENSE (SIN). No, its not easy. I will be the FIRST to admit it. HOWEVER its an area where you have to TRAIN YOURSELF to WALK IN.
First GLEAM in the WORD of GOD. Don’t just read to say oh I read the Bible today. I suggest you read what you can RETAIN, CHEW on, and DIGEST. Maybe that’s not popular suggestion, but if by chance you are LIKE me. You want to ENSURE that what you read, you can APPLY IT TO LIFE. Sure I could read an ENTIRE BOOK in the Bible, but is it benefiting you to read and not gain anything from it?
Second, learn the SERENITY PRAYER. If you don’t know what I am talking about, GOOGLE it. Its WORTH KNOWING.
Third. DO NOT BAIL OUT ON GOD and ABORT YOUR PROMISE. The first TRICK of the enemy, adversary, or DEVIL is to attack your mind. To make you get ANGRY at the world, then lash out, and bail out on GOD. Then you end up isolating yourself and rejecting SOUND Biblical FOOD. You’ll seek out something to TICKLE your fancy instead of something to GIVE YOU BACKBONE and STRENGTH. (See the scripture below)
2 Timothy 4:3
You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant.
ABORTING GOD’S PROMISE. No, GOD didn’t fail you, but you walked out on GOD. Be careful NOT to allow the DEVIL to feed your mind.
****************************************************************
So come go with me. Let’s TRAIN and LEARN to get OVER it. Yes, people don’t understand you. So what? Let’s be big girls and boys (smile) and WALK it OUT ANYWAY, whether someone understands us or not. Let’s just take it to GOD first, instead of using, “When all else fails, go to GOD”
(Its so much I want to say about this story of Hannah, perhaps I will talk about that next).
-Be blessed and ENRICHED through the GOD inspired WORD of GOD!
